Bell Court Consultation

Motto by Hilton at Bell Court

Thank you for taking the time to view our proposals to bring a new Motto by Hilton hotel to Stratford Upon Avon, which we believe will enhance the offer to visitors and residents to the town.

Planning permission was granted in early 2020 for a hotel at Bell Court in response to the uncertainty over the future of Debenhams at that time.  Last year, we sadly saw the demise of Debenhams and the unit is now standing empty.

The last 12 months have been an incredibly challenging time for everyone and we have been carefully refining the plans with a new hotel operator – Hilton – to meet the requirements for its Motto concept which will create a new 148 bed lifestyle hotel to replace the currently redundant Debenhams and H & M space.

We are looking to submit a revised planning application this summer for a modest extension to the plans that have already been approved.

The new hotel would be situated on the ground and three upper floors above Bell Court, fronting both High Street and Taskers Way.  The third floor will be set back from the High Street elevation line to ensure the building’s scale complements the existing street scene.

We believe that this will be a great way to repurpose the old Debenhams space and bring back activity on the High Street frontage.  Our planning application and the prospect of Hilton investing in Stratford is a significant reflection of the confidence in the town’s post COVID recovery and believe that Bell Court will continue to play a significant role in Stratford’s offer to all those living in and visiting the town.
